PS. Can someone give me a quick synopsis of what's been happening in Ros na Run? I haven't watched it since before the summer (I stopped following when the repeats came on and haven't started again since....)

I've split this off for you so as not to hijack Mick's original thread about your blog.

(Very interesting blog, by the way. Welcome to the Irish Language Forum. )

I'm sure we have more than a few Ros na Rún fans here. (Isn't it possible to catch some of it in an archive on the net somewhere?)

Let me see...I can't remember if any of this actually took place last season, but I'm sure others will correct or add to what I put here:

Tigh Thaidhg: Tadhg and Jason came home in time to prevent Francis from being raped by Barry. In a 'roid-induced rage, however, Jason went too far and actually killed Barry. Tadhg and Jason covered it up, but the stress was too much for Francis. She and Tadhg are currently separated, and she lives in a flat in town with Áine. She and Tadhg got back together briefly (in name only) when Francis's obnoxious parents threatened to move to Ros na Rún.

Jason spent some time in rehab for his steroid addiction, but is now home.

Lee came back from England flashing a big diamond ring and announcing her engagement to a rich fellow named Iarla. At first people didn't believe her, but then Iarla showed up, and they began to make plans for a huge wedding. Jason, however, still convinced that it was Lee who gave him VD last season, gave Iarla an earful about Lee's past, and he called off the engagement. Lee worked for a bit in Loinnir, but was fired for being snarky with the customers (who, to be perfectly fair, were also snarky to her). She and Jason have reconciled, and she's now back working at Tigh Thaidhg.

Bríd and Vince: (This is where I can't remember what happened last season and what happened this season, so forgive me if you already know most of this). Alice/Grace kidnapped Vince on the eve of his wedding to Bríd, leaving Bríd alone at the altar and worried sick, as she had no idea about the affair, or about "Grace's" murderous ways. Bríd went looking for "Grace" and discovered Vince tied up in her cottage. "Grace" found her there, and was about to kill them both when Johnny happened along and saved the day. Bríd is disgusted with Vince about the affair, and has called off the wedding. Róise was furious with him as well, though they seem to have reconciled. At this juncture, Vince isn't in the picture much, but it does look like Bríd and Johnny are getting back together!

Caitríona and Gráinne: Caitríona was devastated when Dara, realizing he was still in love with Tina, broke off their relationship. She came close to telling him that he really isn't Méabh's father, but wisely decided otherwise. She's not currently in a relationship. As a new mom, however, she decided she needed more time away from the salon, and decided to hire a manager for Loinnir. Gráinne, of course, wanted the job and, when Caitríona initially wouldn't consider her, she sabotaged the interview process, leaving herself as the only choice. Caitríona found out about it, hired a very good-looking (and very gay) young man named Pádraig to manage the salon, and busted Gráinne back to towel girl.

Dara and Tina: Dara and Tina are back together, but once again Tina's past has come back to haunt her. Anto pressured her into assisting with a bank robbery, then really came down on her when she accidentally left the cell phone he'd given her in Máire's hackney. Later, she saw Máire and Peadar's foster son Ciarán (more on him in a bit) with the phone and tried to buy it from him, but he wouldn't sell. She finally came clean to Dara, who hatched a plan to steal the phone back under the guise of a home buglary.

Cathal: Cathal is currently dating Bernie, but lately he's been thinking about breaking it off. Bernie, being Bernie, on the other hand, has been her usual clingy self, trying to get Cathal to let her move in with him. Evan dislikes and resents Cathal and doesn't want to have anything to do with him. Last week, Bernie hosted a fancy dinner for some of Cathal's colleagues and gave one of them (who was being an ass) a real tongue lashing...which actually ended up working well for Cathal (though he's still letting her think otherwise).

Máire and Peadar: Máire and Peadar are currently fostering a teenage boy, Ciarán, from An Teaghlach. He seems to be a basically good kid, but very easily led. Máire also got into a dispute with Mack (again!) about driving, and is currently trying to start up a rival hackney business (with Gráinne's encouragement) offering female drivers to female clients. She doesn't yet know that she drove the getaway car for Tina's bank robbery!

Martina, John Joe, and Katie: Katie has been shipped back to Donegal (again!) after leading Ciarán to steal for her (with the promise of sexual favors), then accusing him of rape when they were caught. Martina was in trouble for a while for abusing the dole, but started to get herself straightened up when she learned she might be able to get her son back. As it turned out, however, her son's foster family was moving to Australia, and he really wanted to go with them. Rather than stand in his way, she's emigrated to Australia as well to be near him, leaving poor John Joe bereft.

Radió Pobal: Róise is still the station manager, and has finally managed to get Johnny and Jason to work with her. She recently hired David, from An Teaghlach, to do a sort of "agony aunt" show for the station. She also hasn't given up entirely on reconciling with Mack, but he's really not having it (though they have agreed to be friends). Recently David developed a crush on Róise, encouraged by Johnny (who was, of course, simply setting him up for a laugh). Róise has no interest in him, however.

Séamus: Séamus is still Séamus. His most recent capers have involved stealing a farmer's bull in retaliation for said farmer stealing his turf, and helping Tadhg to sneakily inter a rich Yank on said farmer's land.

Those are the main story archs at the moment. Have I forgotten anyone?

Wow, great summary Redwolf. The only thing I have to add is that I think Ciarán is as guilty as sin. Katie's father won't believe her because she cried wolf in the past, but for once the girl is telling the truth.

Could be. I just find Katie so repellent, but then Ciarán is still very much an unknown.

I wish they would make all the back episodes available on DVD. I've only been watching for the past couple of years. The summer repeats are nice, but it would be great to see the show from day one.

Contact TG4 and ask if they are available. Nothing to lose; they can only say 'no'!
