Where does the lovely lilting Irish accent come from when English is spoken? I didn't expect to gain that exactly but it certainly doesn't sound to me to have sprung from the Gaeilge. I learnt some phrases on tour in Ireland last year that set me off on this obsession - but even "thankyou" and "how are you?" don't have the cadence that I expected.

Have started the Duolingo course, but they keep testing on words that have not been covered .... even by Liam. But it drags any pre-knowledge out into being useful.

Oh the lovely accent definitely comes from Irish, and if you speak it long enough, you'll come home and everybody will be accusing you of having one!
